Long after the cellar doors close and the last glass is poured, thousands of tiny workers take flight above McLaren Vale. You won’t hear them. You’ll probably never see them. But without them, the wine in your glass could look very different.
The Bat Box Project brings together Dr Retallack’s nationally recognised EcoVineyards program, Adelaide’s Growing Data Foundation, chaired by agricultural technology specialist Leo Gaggl, the McLaren Vale Community Sustainability Company and Rotary Club of Seaford president Barb Cowey. Together they’ve transformed a simple volunteer initiative into an ambitious environmental project where conservation, agriculture and technology intersect.
