Dr Mary Retallack – Finalist for the 2025 General Jeffery Soil Health Award
We’re proud to share that Dr Mary Retallack has been named a finalist for the prestigious 2025 General Jeffery Soil Health Award.
This national award honours the remarkable legacy of Australia’s first National Soils Advocate, former Governor General, Major General the Hon. Michael Jeffery, AC, AO (Mil), CVO, MC (Retd). It recognises individuals who are making an outstanding contribution to protecting, restoring, and enhancing the health of our soils.
Healthy, well-managed soils are essential to the sustainability and productivity of Australian agriculture and the natural environment. They form the foundation of food production, food security, and human health. The General Jeffery Soil Health Award celebrates those leading the way in soil stewardship and regenerative land management.
Dr Retallack’s work reflects a deep commitment to agroecological practices and a long-standing dedication to building resilient farming systems through improved soil health. Her recognition as a finalist highlights the impact of her leadership, research, and advocacy in this critical space.
The winner of the 2025 General Jeffery Soil Health Award will be announced at the National Landcare Awards gala dinner on Tuesday 23 September 2025.
